I am a historian of Modern Europe, specializing in Spain and the Mediterranean world in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. My thematic interests include political history, the comparative history of modern authoritarian regimes, the history of travel and tourism, and modern international history. My current research examines the dynamics of power, order, and conflict in the Strait of Gibraltar and Ibero-Maghrebi borderland in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
